GUARDIAN HOME PROGRAM - FEMALES

Are you interested in owning one of our AKC Border Collies and be a part of a Gold Standard Reputable Breeding Program without having to do any of the “breeding”. Consider our very successful Guardian Home Program. Since our dogs are not in a kennel environment, the value of the Guardian Home Program allows for select local families to purchase my “pick of the litter puppy”, or top notch adolescent/adult breeding or show dogs as a co-ownership with us. This is a WIN WIN combination that continues to raise the bar for reputable breeding. It is a contracted agreement but more importantly it is an agreement for two households to keep our breeding and show girls and or boys safe, healthy and happy. Several of our pick of the litter puppies are sold ONLY as a part of our Guardian Home Program.

Here at Team Reeves Ranch, we believe that all dogs should live a life as someone’s beloved family member, whether they will be used for breeding or not. In an effort to continue to expand our breeding program, and to ensure all of our breeding dogs live a pampered life with their very own forever family, we have a well established Guardian Home Program that provides a tailored ownership that works for everyone involved. While all our dogs live on our ranch as family dogs, there is only so much room to grow and to grow without the worry that our love and attention can go far enough for everyone. This program allows us to uphold the highest levels of care and quality of every dog and puppy here at the ranch.

The Guardian Home puppy or dog is part of the Guardian’s family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Team Reeves Ranch for a couple years. Once the Guardian Home dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered and the dog will remain a forever pet or show dog of their Guardian Home! The dog is yours and always has been in that regard. My breeding privilege will end after 4 litters.

This is a contracted program that does require some effort by both the Guardian Home and Team Reeves Ranch. As a perk to the Guardian Home, they will have their choice of one puppy from any of that dog’s litters or a contract conclusion award of $3,000 upon completion of said dog’s last litter. This decision can be made at any time during the contract.

As a Guardian Home, you will be responsible for maintaining the health of the dog and providing a loving home. You will also be expected to have completed basic obedience training with the Guardian Home dog and general socialization requirements. When the dog reaches breeding age (approximately 2 years old), all health testing for breeding will be done at our expense. If we find the dog is not up to our breeding standards, full ownership will be signed over to you at that time as the Guardian Home.

If the dog does enter the breeding program, once retired, she will be spayed and full ownership will be given to you, the Guardian Home at that time. We typically retire our Guardian Home dogs at 5 years of age. If Guardian Home is unwilling to commit to breeding the girl for all 4 litters, at any time, the Guardian Home can forfeit the dog to us. To qualify as a Guardian Home, you must live within 4 hours (or so) away and must be willing to travel to bring the dog to us or within a close proximately, when needed. This will be needed during breeding (approximately 2 weeks long) and birthing (approximately 7 weeks long) for all 4 litters. Most breeding females will have two litters a year. Once the dog enters her reproductive span, constant communication between both parties is a must. This will ensure the proper timing for heat cycles, breeding and vet appointments. There is no special care required during pregnancy except lower activity during the last two weeks of pregnancy.
